The dissertation tutor’s history over 16 years of carrying out this work in a private dissertation tutoring capacity is that dissertation students who were with the tutor from start to submission date have passed their dissertations, the majority achieving over 70% with one student achieving 85 % which was publishable in an academic journal.
For new students, there is no guarantee of a pass or the achievement of a specific mark owing to the fact that the student’s results are dependent on the quality of work that the student produces.
Support varies by need. Contractual commitment is to provide a set amount of working hours to the student. The timescale of each unit is estimated based upon review of the student’s current work or agreed requirements and the tutor’s experience. The actual amount of time taken is entirely dependent upon the student’s commitment to carry out the required work and their level of ability.
This only becomes evident upon commencement of the service and regular communication with the student. Therefore, during the working process the student may take a longer time than estimated to complete any set task. Each task must be completed in full before commencement of the next task can take place. Hence, if the student cannot meet the required level of understanding then the number of hours required would take longer than estimated.
The amount of time used against the initial quotation is logged and communicated to the student during the tutoring process by a detailed daily/weekly account log of time. The tutor personally strives to provide a service to each and every student which is tailored to their level of work and what is required. This is a personal tuition service to aide and assist by offering guidance and help for the student to then work with. In the past the range of required hours has been between 30 and 70 hours approximately for help with a whole dissertation.
Each student is an individual and each dissertation is individual to that student therefore it is not possible to be prescriptive in relation to the exact detail of how the help will be carried out. There may be variation as to more or less done on the indicative service as appropriate to the individual student.
Once you’ve completed payment, your first session is generally arranged within 2–5 days. For urgent needs, I often offer immediate appointments, subject to availability.
Online via Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Screen-sharing and document review features make each session interactive and efficient.
Owing to the complexity of a dissertation, most students book a minimum of 10 hours.
It cannot be assessed how many tuition and guidance hours an individual student will take from start to finish. The hours required are dependent on the student’s specific requirements and capabilities. Each student client’s individual needs differ and are dependent on their previous research knowledge and understanding and command of the English language and also on the word length of dissertation.
However, for most past dissertation students (with dissertations 5000= 15000 words) the tuition/guidance/Teams / Google Meet consultation with screen share of documents /reading/reviewing/written and/or verbal feedback, the time booked on average in the past has been approximately 8-10 hours for each section of the dissertation.
The following provides a guide only as to what is typically included in the way of help for dissertation students -Teams / Google Meet consultation, 1- to -1 dissertation guidance, tuition, support, screen share of dissertation documents with student, tutor reading dissertation documents e.g. dissertation handbook, students written dissertation draft, tutor reviewing dissertation drafts, tutor providing written and/ or verbal feedback, referencing help, dissertation structuring help, proofreading and editing. However, there may be more or there may be less of this previous example list according to the requirements of the individual dissertation student.
